Local WGA Rule:  On Wednesday, C flight may pick up your ball after 10 strokes. This will help speed up play and morale.  Championship, and A & B flights, if you pick up your ball, you will not be eligible for the Wednesday event.

April 28, 2021 – WGA Opening Day Golf (just a fun day of golf — Best Ball)

May 5, 2021 – Odd Holes (all ODD hole scores are totaled and recorded as event score)

May 12, 2021 – Opening Day Event Luncheon & Meeting – Three Blind Mice (Pro Shop picks 3 holes to be thrown out — low net wins the event)

May 19, 2021 – Tee to Green (only strokes from tee to green are counted — no putts — easiest to keep track of putts with your score and subtract to get event score)

May 26, 2021 – N-O-S-E (total all scores on holes beginning with the letters NOSE — holes 1, 6, 7, 8, 9, 11, 16, 17 & 18 — lowest score wins the event)

June 2, 2021 – Throw Out Hazard Holes (scores from holes 9, 14, and 15 are discarded) (NOTE: SHOT GUN START AT 8:30 A.M. DUE TO TRAVEL LEAGUE PLAY) / (Ringer Board starts)

June 9, 2021 – The Ribbon Game (there will be one of 4 colored ribbons tied to each flag on the course — before play, each player will be assigned one of 4 colored ribbons — you will each play your normal game — then when you finish the hole, the player whose ribbon matches the flag ribbon will be the “winning score” for that hole for the group.)

June 16, 2021 – 18-hole Guest Day (just a fun day of golf), Odd Holes (see May 5 above)

June 23, 2021 – Blind Partners (Pro Shop will make pairings unknown to the players before play begins — partners’ combined net scores will determine event winners)

June 30, 2021 – Even Holes (all EVEN hole scores are totaled and recorded as event score)

July 7, 2021 – Pick Your Poison (BEFORE PLAY, choose 2 par 5’s, 3 par 3’s, and 4 par 4’s — at end of play, total these holes and deduct half of your handicap for your event score)

July 14, 2021 – Ace of the Day (low net over ALL flights)

July 21, 2021 – Par 4’s (total par 4 scores only — gross score wins event)

July 28, 2021 – Fairways Abound (count 1 point for drives remaining in the fairways — drives on par 3 greens count as 1 point — winner has most points and ties are decided by draw)

August 4, 2021 – Longest Putt (4 flights) (a marker for each flight is placed on designated green — first person of each flight writes name for longest putt and places marker on the spot from which putt was made — any person following that group who sinks longer putt in the same flight, signs their name below the preceding name and moves the marker to the spot from which she putted —  marker for each flight is placed on holes 9, 15, 18)

August 11, 2021 – Best Poker Hand (score on each hole is considered a card dealt to the golfer — golfer selects 5 holes and plays those “cards” as her poke hand) — disregarding suit value, the hand ratings are: five of a kind (highest number wins); four of a kind (highest number wins); full house (three of a kind and a pair); straight (five sequential numbers such as 7, 6, 5, 4, 3); three of a kind (highest number wins); two pair)

September 8, 2021 – Closest to the Pin (4 flights) (a marker for each flight is placed on designated green — first person of each flight writes name for closest to the pin and places marker on that spot where ball stopped — any person following that group who lands closer to the pin, signs their name below the preceding name and moves the marker to the spot where ball landed —  marker for each flight is placed on holes 4, 8, and 17) (Ringer Board ends)

September 15, 2021 – Closest to the line on Drive (Pro Shop draws chalk line down a fairway, either straight or curvy — person closest to the line in the fairway, regardless of the drive distance, wins the event)

ACC WGA TRAVEL LEAGUE

ACC WGA Travel League

The Women’s Travel League is comprised of six clubs: Arrowhead, El Paso, Sunset Hills, Lick Creek, Pekin Country Club, and Quail Meadows. Each team has six players and we play six times over the summer, a different club each time. Each match is a partner event, best ball match play with handicap with one point for a hole won and 1/2 point for a tie.
Each person pays greens fees but all club pros are accommodating and usually charge around $35 to play. The clubs always have a lunch special.
We are always looking for new players. Anyone can play whether you shoot low or high scores as it’s a handicapped format. There is a signup sheet in the Arrowhead Cafe where you can sign up for any or all of the different dates.
